How Baku Businesses Can Become More Visible in ChatGPT and Google AI
A customer looking for an interior designer in Baku may ask an AI tool for a shortlist, compare the companies in Google, then open two websites before sending a message. Your website needs to help at each step: explain what you offer, make the information easy to verify, and give the visitor a clear next action. This guide sets out a practical starting point for businesses in Azerbaijan. The goal is to make your company easier to discover and evaluate; no website change can guarantee an AI recommendation.
Why AI search belongs in your website plan
BrightLocal’s research published on 21 October 2026 found that 65% of surveyed US small business owners said they were working on AI search visibility. The study covered 1,002 owners of local businesses with 1–50 employees. These are US findings, not measurements of customer behaviour in Azerbaijan.
For a Baku business, the useful response is to test how people could discover its services today. Google AI features and ChatGPT search are different systems; their availability and answers can vary by market, language and account. Keep conventional search, your website and direct customer contact in the same plan.
Start with the questions customers actually ask
Create a small set of realistic searches in Azerbaijani, Russian and English. Include a service, a location and a genuine buying constraint. Search without your company name first: a branded search mainly tests whether a system can find a business it has already been told about.
- Azərbaycan dili: “Bakıda kiçik ofis üçün interyer dizayn studiyasını necə seçmək olar?”
- Русский: «Где в Баку арендовать автомобиль с понятными условиями депозита?»
- English: “Which Baku language schools offer evening classes for working adults?”
These are illustrative research prompts, not client results. Record the date, tool, language, prompt, companies mentioned and sources linked. Repeat the same small sample later. One favourable answer is an observation, not a dependable ranking.
Give each service a page that helps someone decide
Read your main service page as a first-time buyer. Can you tell who the service is for, what is included, where it is available and how the next step works? Replace broad claims about quality with information a customer can use.
- Describe the scope, deliverables and important exclusions.
- Explain pricing or the factors needed to prepare a quote; publish only prices you can honour.
- Show real work with permission, including your role and the actual scope.
- Answer recurring questions about timing, requirements, availability and support.
- Provide one clear path to enquire, book or request a proposal.
For example, an interior design page can explain whether drawings, material selection and site visits are included. A car rental page can explain the deposit, insurance conditions and collection process. A school can show class format and how to check current schedules. These are content examples, not promises about any named business.
Check discovery before buying more content
Google says its AI search features use established SEO foundations; there is no special AI markup requirement. Start by checking whether important pages are indexed, crawlable and connected through internal links. Essential information should be readable as text, rather than available only inside an image.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT search guidance says allowing OAI-SearchBot and its published IP addresses helps make a site eligible for inclusion. Ask your developer to review robots.txt and hosting or firewall rules. Eligibility does not guarantee placement.
Google’s guidance also says llms.txt is not used to improve visibility in Google Search. A file or a new label such as GEO is not a substitute for useful pages. Review mobile reading, page loading and the enquiry form as part of the same work.
Treat AZ, RU and EN as complete customer journeys
Use a separate stable URL for each language version, with reciprocal hreflang links and a canonical pointing to the appropriate language page. The language switcher should keep the visitor on the equivalent service or article. Google documents these language annotations as a way to identify localized versions.
Translate the questions and buying context naturally. Keep service scope, prices, contacts and restrictions consistent, and check the form confirmation and messaging links too. Three translated headlines are not three complete pages.
Do not publish pages for areas you do not serve or replace a few place names to create dozens of near-identical pages. Start with the services and customer groups your business can actually support.
Make your business information easy to verify
Compare your site with your Google Business Profile, relevant directories and social profiles. Check the company name, phone number, address or service area, opening hours and current services. For an online business, describe the service area honestly instead of inventing a customer-facing office.
Ask customers for honest reviews through appropriate channels. Publish authentic project examples and clear contact information. The purpose is to help a buyer verify your business across sources, not to manufacture mentions. Keep a named owner responsible for updating information when something changes.
Measure enquiries alongside visibility
Keep three distinct records: whether the company is mentioned or cited in your prompt sample; which visitors arrive from search or AI referrals; and which of those visits become relevant enquiries. An AI mention, a visit and a qualified lead are different outcomes.
Use Search Console for Google visibility and indexing, and website analytics for identifiable referrals and enquiry actions. Add a short optional question asking new customers how they found you. Some journeys will remain unattributed, so avoid claiming that every improvement was caused by one edit.
Set a baseline before the changes. Compare equivalent periods and note campaign activity, seasonality and changes in availability. Choose a review date several weeks later rather than expecting a publication-day result.
A practical one-week starting plan
- Day 1: Save the AZ/RU/EN prompt sample and current enquiry baseline.
- Day 2: Improve the main service page and remove unsupported claims.
- Day 3: Complete the equivalent language pages and check the language switcher.
- Day 4: Review indexing, crawler access, canonical URLs and hreflang.
- Day 5: Correct business profiles and add a genuine project example where available.
- Day 6: Test mobile reading, forms and messaging links end to end.
- Day 7: Document the changes, assign an owner and schedule the next review.
This is an implementation checklist, not a promise of visibility within seven days. AI Studio Baku can help turn unclear or incomplete service pages into a coherent multilingual website with working enquiry paths. Start with the page that matters most to your customers, agree the scope, and measure what changes.
